Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Open “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
- Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account or reinstall the apps
Back Up & Restore Contacts:
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Accounts”
- Select an account type and the account you want to use for contact syncing
- Ensure “Contacts” is checked and tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
NOTE: Contacts can be restored the next time you sign in with the backup account by syncing the account data – including contacts- with the device.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer and copy the media files from the phone storage
- Transfer the files to the desired backup location on the PC storage
- Once done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Restore Media Files form a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the PC storage
- Copy and transfer the backup files to the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
