Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device
  3. Tap “Battery
  4. Press “Menu” and enable “Battery saver

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease screen brightness
  3. Next open “Settings
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
  6. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select a lower value

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features OFF when not actively in use in order to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Go back to “Settings”
  4. Access “Location” for GPS options
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
  6. To turn hotspot OFF, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the features OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Enable “2G

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus you can remove or disable unused third party apps to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps
  3. Access “All apps
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to confirm
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and thus improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Personal
  3. Tap “Accounts
  4. Select an account type and the account whose sync settings you want to change

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates
  4. Check if a new update is available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
