Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu
  4. Enable “Battery saver

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when unused – such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS- to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features OFF
  3. Return to “Settings” and tap “Location” for GPS options
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
  5. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the features

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Tap “Mobile networks
  4. Tap “Preferred network type” and enable “2G

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Device
  4. Tap “Display” and turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select a lower value

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps form the device you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device
  3. Tap “Apps” and go to “All apps
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” / “Disable
  5. Alternatively, to remove the app tap “Uninstall

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to and access “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if new updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
