Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Tap “Display” under “Device
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
  6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery
  3. Tap “Menu
  4. Enable “Battery saver

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and conserve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location’ and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Next open “Settings
  4. Scroll to and tap “Location” > “Mode” > “Battery saving
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the feature OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Tap “More’ under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Tap “Mobile networks
  4. Access “preferred network type
  5. Enable “2G

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life when not actively in use. Thus you can remove or disable unused third party apps to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps
  3. Ensure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
  4. Select the desired application and tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to turn the app off
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by minimizing the amount of data synced by your accounts regularly.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Personal
  3. Tap “Accounts” and select an account type and account
  4. Disable the desired settings to reduce sync

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates
  4. Check if a new update is available and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE the process will require at least one reboot)
