Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings
  4. Scroll to “Device
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
  6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable your phone’s connectivity features when not in use – including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS – to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to turn the features OFF
  3. Launch “Settings
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  6. Tap “Tethering & Mobile hotspot” and disable the feature

Use 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Go to “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Enable “2G

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device
  3. Tap “Battery
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver

Change Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: You can change y our accounts’ settings to reduce sync and conserve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts
  3. Select the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to minimize sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when they are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps
  3. Ensure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  4. Select the desired application and tap “Force Stop” to disable it or:
  5. Tap “Uninstall” to remove the app

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone” > “System updates
  3. Verify if a new update is available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
