Back Up & Restore App Data:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & Reset
  3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your account
  4. Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored when reinstalling apps or when signing in with the backup account

Back Up & Restore Contacts:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Access “Accounts
  3. Select an account type
  4. Tap the account you want to use for syncing your contacts
  5. Ensure “Contacts” is checked then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now

NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be automatically restored the next time you log in with the backup account.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. On the computer, launch the File Explorer
  4. Navigate to the desired media files on the phone storage
  5. Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
  6. Once the transfer completes, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. On the computer, launch the File Explorer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the computer
  5. Copy and transfer the backup files to the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folders from where they originate
  6. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
