Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch “Settings”
- Access “Device”
- Go to “Battery”
- Tap “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- From the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- For more options go to “Settings”
- Tap “Display” and enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
- For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features OFF when not actively in use – such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS – to avoid unnecessary network scans and conserve battery life.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- From the quick toggle area, tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features off
- Open “Settings” for more options
- Tap “Location” for GPS settings, then tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and disable the feature
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve the battery until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Mobile networks”
- Go to “Preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Personal”
- Tap “Accounts”
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available sync settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life when the apps are not actively in use. Thus you can remove or disable unused third-party apps from the device to improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “Apps”
- Ensure “All apps” is selected
- Select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to confirm
- To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and as such, it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if updates are available:
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to and tap “About phone”
- Access “System updates”
- Check if a new update is available for download
- If available, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
