Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & Reset”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings to your backup account
- Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be restored automatically when signing in with the backup account or reinstalling apps
Back Up & Restore Contacts:
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Accounts”
- Select the desired account type and account
- Ensure the “Contacts” check box is ticked
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be restored automatically the next time you log in with the backup account.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
- Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media files on the phone
- Copy and transfer the files to the desired backup location on the computer
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a PC:
- Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
- Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the computer
- Copy and transfer the backup files to the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder or the directory of origin
- After the transfer completes, eject the phone storage via system tray
- You can safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
