Enable Battery Saving:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Device
  3. Tap “Battery
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Launch “Settings” and go to “Display
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease screen luminosity
  3. Optionally you can also enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
  4. For timeout settings, tap “Sleep
  5. Select a lower value such as “15 seconds

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when unused, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. In the quick toggle area, tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” (GPS)” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Launch “Settings” and go to “Location
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  6. Turn “Tethering & portable hotspot” OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Go to “Mobile networks
  4. Access “Preferred network type
  5. Select “2G

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when they are not actively in use. As such you can disable or remove unused third-party apps form the phone to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Apps
  3. Ensure “All apps” is selected
  4. Select the app you want to disable or remove
  5. To disable it, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall

Minimize Sync:

NOTE: You can change your account’s settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to “Accounts
  3. Tap an account type and select an account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates include improvements to battery life and so it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Access “About phone” > “System updates
  3. Verify if a new update is available for download
  4. If so, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (the process will require at least one reboot)
