Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
- In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open “Settings” for more options
- Go to “Display” and turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
- For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Device” > “Battery’
- Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not in use, such as Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and conserve battery life.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- In the quick toggle area, tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “Location” for GPS options, go to “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- Return to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and turn the feature OFF
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
- Turn “2G” ON
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps you can avoid this and potentially improve battery life.
- Go to “Settings”
- Access “Apps” and make sure “All apps” are visible
- Select the desired application
- To disable the app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to confirm
- To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “About phone” > “System updates”
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update will require you to reboot your phone at least once)
