Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch “Settings”
- Access “Device”
- Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down
- From the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Launch “Settings” for more options and go to “Display”
- Enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
- Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select a lower value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features OFF when not actively in use – including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially conserve battery life.
- Swipe the Status bar down
- From the quick toggle area, tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) quick toggles to turn the features OFF
- Open “Settings”
- Tap “Location” > “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
- Go back to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot”
- Turn the feature OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you wish to conserve energy, switching to 2G networks until the next recharge can prolong battery life.
- Open “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Access “Mobile networks”
- Tap “Preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Minimize Sync:
NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Accounts”
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings as desired to decrease the amount of data being synced
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Apps”
- View “All apps” and select the desired application
- To disable the app, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop” to turn the app OFF
- To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the software up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “About phone” > “System updates”
- Verify if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require you to reboot the phone at least once)
