Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Go to “Display” and enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
  5. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to “Device
  3. Tap “Battery
  4. Tap “Menu
  5. Enable “Battery saver

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use – such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS – in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially conserve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. In the quick toggle area, tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable these features
  3. Launch “Settings
  4. Go to “Location” > “Mode” > “Battery saving
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  6. Access “Tethering & portable hotspot
  7. Disable the features

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery you can temporarily switch to 2G networks to conserve energy until the next recharge.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Go to “Mobile networks
  4. Tap “Preferred network type
  5. Enable “2G

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps in order to potentially improve battery life.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Apps” and make sure to view “All apps
  3. Select the desired app
  4. To disable the app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall

Change Account Settings to Decrease Sync:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to “Accounts
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to decrease sync as desired

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings” and go to “About phone
  2. Tap “System updates
  3. Check if new updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require you to reboot the phone at least once)
