Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease it
- For more options go to “Settings”
- Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
- Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
- Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout duration like “15 seconds”
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open “Settings”
- Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
- Tap “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not actively in use you may avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the “Location”, “Bluetooth” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to turn the features OFF
- Open “Settings” and go to “Location” for GPS options
- Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the features OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Mobile networks”
- Go to “Preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery performance even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Apps” and make sure you view “All apps”
- Select the desired application
- Tap “Disable” or “Force Stop”
- To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts’ settings to reduce the amount of data synced by them, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to “Settings” and access “Accounts”
- Select the desired account type
- Select an account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to and tap “About phone”
- Tap “System updates”
- Check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
