Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Launch “Settings” and go to “Device”
- Tap “Display”
- Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
- For timeout options, go to “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Device”
- Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS to improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
- Next open “Settings”
- Go to “Location”, tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- For hotspot settings, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and disable the feature
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
- Turn “2G” ON
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when not actively in use. You can disable or remove these unused third-party apps to try and improve battery life.
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Apps”
- Select “All apps” if necessary
- Tap the desired application
- Tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
- To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to “Settings” > “Accounts”
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “About phone”
- Tap “System updates”
- Check if new updates are available and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (the process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
