Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Device”
- Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open “Settings” for more options
- Go to “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
- For timeout options, return to “Settings” and tap “Sleep”
- Select a lower value such as “15 seconds”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features Off when they are not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Location” for GPS settings
- Tap “mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Go to “Mobile networks”
- Tap “Preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you may be able to improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Apps”
- If necessary, select “All Apps”
- Tap the desired application
- To turn the app off, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
- To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts and apps, you may be able to improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Personal”
- Tap “Accounts”
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “About phone”
- Tap “System updates” and check fi a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
