Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider to the left
- Open “Settings” and go to “Display”
- Enable and disable “Adaptive brightness”
- Return to “Settings” and tap “Sleep” for timeout duration
- Select a lower value such as “15 seconds”
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Device”
- Tap “Battery”
- Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when they are not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Open “Settings” and go to “Location” for GPS settings
- Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- Go back to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & networks”
- Then tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the feature Off
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: IF your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can temporarily switch to 2G to conserve energy until your next recharge.
- Open “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Access “Mobile networks”
- Tap “preferred network type”
- Enable 2G”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can lower the amount of data synced by your accounts and apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Personal”
- Tap “Accounts” and select the desired account type
- Tap the desired account and change the available settings to reduce sync
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Third-party apps can perform background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the device, you might improve battery life.
- Open “Settings” and go to “Apps”
- Select “All apps” if needed
- Tap the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
- To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Launch “Settings”
- Access “About phone”
- Tap “System updates”
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the process will require to reboot the phone at least once)
