Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. For additional options, open “Settings
  4. Tap “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
  5. For timeout options tap “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Device
  3. Tap “Battery
  4. Tap “Menu
  5. Enable “Battery saver

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features Off when not actively in use – including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, ad GPS – to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to turn the features Off
  3. Open “Settings
  4. Access “Location” then tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & networks
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & networks
  3. Tap “Mobile network
  4. Tap “Preferred network type
  5. Enable “2G

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Apps
  3. Switch to “All apps” and select the desired app
  4. To disable the app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Accounts
  3. Select an account type
  4. Tap the desired account
  5. Change the available sync options as desired

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “About phone” > “System updates
  3. Check if new updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
