Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- For more options open “Settings”
- Go to “Display” and optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
- For timeout duration, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Device”
- Tap “Battery”
- Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn off the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Location”
- Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and disable the features
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open “Settings”
- Under “Wireless & Networks” tap “More”
- Access “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Apps” > “All apps”
- Select the desired app
- Tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
- To remove the app from the device, tap “Uninstall”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You may improve the phone’s battery life in the long run by reducing the amount of data synced by your apps/accounts.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Accounts”
- Select the desired account type and an account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open “Settings” and scroll to “About phone”
- Tap “System updates”
- Check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (the process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
