Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Device”
- Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- For more options go to “Settings”
- Access “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
- For timeout duration, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Open “Settings” and go to “Location”
- Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- Go back to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and turn the feature Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open “Settings”
- Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Go to “Mobile networks”
- Tap “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You might be able to improve battery life in the long run by reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts/ apps.
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Accounts”
- Select the desired account type and account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Apps”
- Access “All apps” and select the desired app
- Tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
- To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “About phone” > “System updates”
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (the process will require at least one reboot)
