Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Device”
- Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Next open “Settings” and tap “Display”
- Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
- For timeout settings, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds”
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Device” and tap “Battery”
- Tap “menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when they are not actively in use – such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS – to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Launch “Settings” and go to “Location” for GPS settings
- Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- Return to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot”
- Turn the feature Off
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch “Settings” and go to “Accounts”
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can remove or disable unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch “Settings”
- Access “apps” and go to “All apps”
- Select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
- To remove the app, tap “uninstall”
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times.
- Launch “Settings”
- Access “About phone” > “System updates”
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update (NOTE: the update process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
