Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings
  4. Go to “Display” and optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. For timeout settings, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Device
  3. Tap “Battery
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Return to “Settings” and access “Location” for more GPS options
  4. Then tap “mode” and enable “Battery saving
  5. Go back to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & networks
  6. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Tap “mobile networks
  4. Tap “Preferred network type
  5. Enable “2G

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Accounts
  3. Select an account type
  4. Tap the desired account
  5. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Apps” > “All apps
  3. Select the desired app
  4. To disable the app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable
  5. To remove the app, tap “uninstall

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates
  4. Check if new updates are available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require you to reboot the phone at least once)
