Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Device
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu
  4. Enable “Battery saver

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings
  4. Go to “Display
  5. Optimally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
  6. For timeout settings tap “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not in use, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth, you can avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings
  4. Access “Location” for additional GPS options
  5. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving
  6. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  7. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and turn the feature off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Tap ‘Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Enable “2G

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps you can potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Apps
  3. Select “All apps
  4. Tap the desired app
  5. To disable an app, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Accounts
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates
  4. Check if new updates are available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update (the update process will require at least one reboot)
