Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Device
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu
  4. Enable “Battery saver

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease brightness
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Go to “Device” and tap “Display
  5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  6. Tap “Sleep’ and select a lower value like “15 seconds

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not in use such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down with two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) quick toggles to turn off the features
  3. Open “Settings” and go to “Location” (GPS)
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Go to “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Enable “2G

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can reduce the amount of data synced by your apps/accounts and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Personal” > “Accounts
  3. Select an account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the device, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Apps” under “Device
  3. Ensure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
  4. Select the desired app
  5. To turn the app off, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if new updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. Note that the update process will require at least one reboot
