Back Up and Restore App Data:
- Open “Settings” and go to “Personal”
- Tap “Backup & reset”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings to your Google account
- Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be restored automatically when signing in with the backup account or reinstalling apps
Back Up & Restore Contacts:
- Launch “Settings”
- Access “Accounts”
- Select an account type and the desired account for syncing contacts
- Ensure “Contacts” is checked then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
NOTE: The contacts can be restored automatically when you sign in with the backup account.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
- Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Copy and transfer the files to the desired backup location on the PC
- Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Navigate to the media backup files on the PC
- Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
- Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
