Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Device”
- Tap “Battery”
- Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open “Settings” for more options
- Go to “Display”
- Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
- For timeout settings, tap “Sleep’ and select “15 seconds”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when they are not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) quick toggles to disable the features
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Location” for more GPS options
- Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
- Return to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Disable “Tethering & Portable hotspot”
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Mobile networks”
- Go to “Preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can remove or disable unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life.
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Apps” and go to “All apps”
- Select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
- To remove the app, tap ‘Uninstall”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Accounts”
- Tap an account type
- Select the desired account and change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “About phone” > “System updates”
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (note that the update process will require at least one reboot)
