Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings
  4. Go to “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
  5. For timeout settings, go to “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Device
  3. Tap “Battery
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, including Hotspot, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Location” “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings
  4. Go to “Location
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
  6. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & networks
  7. Disable “Tethering & mobile hotspot

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Go to “Mobile networks
  4. Tap “Preferred network type
  5. Enable “2G

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Access “Accounts
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps can perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life when the apps are not actively in use. Thus you can disable or remove unused third-party apps to remove or disable unused third-party apps.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Apps
  3. Switch to “Downloaded” or “All apps
  4. Select the desired app
  5. To turn the app off, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates
  4. Check if new updates area available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update
