Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
- For timeout options tap “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds”
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Device”
- Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, you can avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the “Bluetooth” “Wi-Fi” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
- Return to “Settings” and go to “Location”
- Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
- Return to “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks” and disable “Tethering & Mobile hotspot”
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Access “Mobile networks”
- Go to “Preferred network type” and select “2G”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can improve battery life by minimizing the amount of data synced by your apps/accounts.
- Launch “Settings”
- Access “Accounts”
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Third-party apps can perform regular background processes which can affect battery life. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the phone you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Apps”
- Switch to “All apps” or “Downloaded”
- Select the desired app and tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
- Tap “Uninstall”
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “About phone”
- Tap “System updates”
- Check if new updates are available and if there are, follow the prompts to download and apply them
