Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Device”
- Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- From the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Launch “Settings” and go to “Display”
- Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
- Access “Sleep” for timeout options and select a value like “15 seconds”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: you can turn the phone’s connectivity features OFF when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the “Location” > “Bluetooth” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch “Settings” for more options
- Go to “Location” for additional GPS settings, then tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- Return to “Settings” and expand the “Wireless & Networks” menu
- Disable “Tethering & mobile hotspot”
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: if your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open “Settings”
- Expand the “Wireless & Networks” menu
- Go to “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Minimize Third-Party Apps:
NOTE: Third-party apps can perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps, you can potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Apps” and switch to “Downloaded” or “All apps”
- Select the desired app
- Tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
- Or tap “Uninstall” to remove the app
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You may improve battery life by reducing the amount of data synced by your apps and accounts.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Accounts”
- Select an account type and account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open “Settings”
- Access “About phone”
- Tap “System updates”
- Check if new updates area available
- If so, follow the prompts to download and apply the update
