Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open “Settings”
- Access” Display” and optionally turn “Adaptive brightness’ ON or OFF
- Tap “Sleep’ and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Device” > “Battery”
- Tap “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the “Location” “Bluetooth” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to disable the features
- For more options open “Settings”
- Go to “Location” for GPS settings, tap “mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- Go back to “Settings” and expand the “Wireless & Networks” menu
- Turn “Tethering & mobile hotspot” OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery pack, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Expand “Wireless & Networks”
- Access “Mobile networks”
- Tap “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can try and improve battery life by reducing the amount of data synced by your apps and accounts.
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Accounts”
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Third-party applications can perform regular background processes and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you can potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Apps”
- If necessary, switch to “All apps” or “Downloaded”
- Select the desired app and tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
- Alternatively, tap “uninstall” to remove the app
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “About phone”
- Tap “System updates”
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the prompts to download and install the update(s)
