Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. From the quick toggle area, drag the brightness towards the left
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Go to “Display” and optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. For timeout settings, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Device
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu
  4. Enable “Battery saver

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when they are not actively in use – Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth – to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings” and tap “Location” for additional GPS settings
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
  5. Return to “Settings” and expand “Wireless & Networks
  6. Disable “Tethering & mobile hotspot

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Expand “Wireless & Networks
  3. Tap “Mobile networks
  4. Tap “Preferred network type” and enable “2G

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change the sync settings of your apps and accounts to reduce the amount of data synced and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Accounts
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus you can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Apps
  3. If necessary, switch to “All apps” or “Downloaded
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” / “Disable
  5. Alternatively, tap “Uninstall” to remove the app from the phone

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates
  4. Check if new updates are available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the prompts to download and apply the updates
