Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Device”
- Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open “Settings” for more options
- Access “Display”
- Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
- For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features Off when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Location” for GPS options
- Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- Return to “Settings” and expand “Wireless & Networks”
- Disable “Tethering & mobile hotspot”
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Wireless & Networks”
- Go to “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch “Settings”
- Access “Apps”
- Switch to “All apps” or “Downloaded” if necessary
- Select the desired app
- Tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to turn the app off, or:
- Tap “Uninstall” to remove the app from the device
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by changing your account’s settings to reduce sync.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Accounts”
- Select an account type
- Tap the desired account and change the available settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve the battery and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “About phone”
- Tap “System updates”
- Check if new updates are available
- If updates are available, follow the prompts to download and apply them
