Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Launch “Settings” and go to “Display
  4. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
  5. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Device
  3. Tap “Battery
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features Off when not actively in use, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Location” “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings
  4. Access “Location” and tap “Menu
  5. Select “Battery saving” and return to “Settings
  6. Expand “Wireless & Networks” and disable “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot

Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Expand “Wireless & Networks
  3. Go to “Mobile networks” > “preferred network type
  4. Enable “2G

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life.

  1. Launch “Settings” and go to “Apps
  2. Switch to “Downloaded” or “All apps
  3. Select the desired app and tap “Disable” / “Force Stop
  4. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall” instead

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can modify your sync settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to “Accounts
  3. Tap an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if updates are available:

  1. Launch “Settings” and go to “About phone
  2. Tap “System updates
  3. Check if new firmware updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the prompts to download and apply the update
