Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Launch “Settings” and go to “Display”
- Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
- For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Device”
- Tap “Battery”
- Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features Off when not actively in use, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the “Location” “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Location” and tap “Menu”
- Select “Battery saving” and return to “Settings”
- Expand “Wireless & Networks” and disable “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot”
Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Expand “Wireless & Networks”
- Go to “Mobile networks” > “preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life.
- Launch “Settings” and go to “Apps”
- Switch to “Downloaded” or “All apps”
- Select the desired app and tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
- To remove the app, tap “Uninstall” instead
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can modify your sync settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Accounts”
- Tap an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if updates are available:
- Launch “Settings” and go to “About phone”
- Tap “System updates”
- Check if new firmware updates are available
- If applicable, follow the prompts to download and apply the update
