Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Device”
- Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Display” and optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
- For timeout options, tap “Sleep’ and select a lower value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home scree
- Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
- Open “Settings” and go to “Location”
- Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saving”
- Return to “Settings” and expand “Wireless & Networks”
- Disable “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot”
Temporarily Switch to 2G:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by switching to 2G networks.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Wireless & Networks”
- Access “Mobile networks”
- Tap “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your sync settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life.
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Accounts”
- Select an account type and account
- Change the available sync settings to minimize sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes and you can potentially improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third-party apps form the phone.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Apps” and switch to “All apps” or “Downloaded”
- Select the desired app
- Tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
- To remove the app instead, tap “Uninstall”
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “About phone”
- Tap “System updates” and check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the prompts to download and apply the update
