Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Personal” and tap “Backup & Reset’
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings to your backup account
- Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically when signing in with the backup account or when reinstalling apps
Back Up & Restore Contacts:
- Launch “Settings” and go “Accounts”
- Select an account type and account
- Ensure “Contacts” is checked
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
NOTE: Contacts can be automatically restored when logging in with the backup account, or by manually syncing the account data with the phone.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
- On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the PC and locate the media files on the phone
- Copy and paste the files to the desired backup location on the PC storage
- Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
Restore Media Files from a PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
- On the phone, enable “Media device” / ‘File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer and locate the media backup files on the PC storage
- Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
- Once the transfer completes, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
