Enable Battery Optimization:
- Swipe up on the home screen
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Battery” > “Battery optimization”
- From here, you can select an app and optimize it, or:
- Tap “Menu” > “Advanced optimization” and enable the feature
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Settings:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- In the notification panel, drag the brightness towards the left
- For timeout options, open “Settings”
- Go to “Display” > “Sleep”
- Select a lower “Sleep period” value
Disable Connectivity Features:
NOTE: When not actively in use, you can disable the phone’s connectivity features to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Network & Internet”
- Tap “Wi-Fi” and disable the feature
- To disable Bluetooth and GPS, swipe the Status bar down and tap the toggles
- To disable Wi-Fi Hotspot, open “Settings” and tap “network & Internet”
- Tap “Hotspot & tethering” then disable Wi-Fi hotspot
Remove Unused Third-Party Apps:
NOTE: Third-party apps can perform regular background processes and this can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. To remove third-party apps:
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Apps & Notifications”
- Select “See all apps” and tap the desired app
- Tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times.
- Swipe up on the home screen and open “Settings”
- Scroll to and tap “System” > “System update”
- Tap “Check for update”
- If updates are available, follow the prompts to complete the process
