Enable Battery Saver:
- Swipe up from the bottom of the home screen
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Battery” > “Battery saver”
- Tap the “Battery saver” toggle ON
- Optionally, tap “Turn on automatically” and select a battery percentage at which the mode enables automatically
- Optionally, tap “App usage” to monitor the battery usage of independent apps since the last recharge
- You can also tap “Ambient display” and disable the wake up function for the display when receiving notifications
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout:
- Swipe the Status bar down from the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- For more options, open “Settings”
- Go to “Display” > “Advanced”
- Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value
- To disable Adaptive Brightness, open “Settings” and go to “Battery” > “Battery saver”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features Off when not actively in use, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the “Bluetooth” and “GPS (location)” quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Tap and hold the “Wi-Fi” toggle and set the switch Off
- For more options, go to “Settings” > “Network & Internet”
- Tap “Hotspot & Tethering” > “Wi-Fi Hotspot” and set the switch off to disable Wi-Fi Hotspot
Remove Unused Third-Party Apps:
NOTE: Some third-party apps preform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. To remove third-party apps:
- Swipe up from the bottom of the home screen
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Apps & Notifications”
- Ensure you view All Apps
- Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS updated:
- Swipe up from the bottom of the home screen
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “System” > “System update” and tap “Check for update”
- If updates are available, follow the prompts to download and apply them
