Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. In the Notification shade, drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. For more options go to “Settings
  4. Access “Display
  5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  6. Tap “Sleep” for timeout option and select a lower value

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Device
  3. Tap “Battery
  4. Tap “menu” and enable “Battery saver

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when they are not actively in use to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location (GPS)” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings
  4. Go to “Location” for GPS settings, tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
  5. Go back to “Settings” and expand “Wireless & Networks
  6. Turn “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot’ Off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings” and expand “Wireless & Networks
  2. Go to “Mobile networks
  3. Tap “Preferred network type
  4. Enable “2G

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can reduce the amount of data synced by your accounts and apps to potentially improve battery life.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Access “Accounts
  3. Select an account type
  4. Select an account and change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You might improve battery life in the long run by disabling or removing unused third-party apps.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Access “Apps” and switch to “Downloaded” or “All apps
  3. Select the desired app
  4. Tap “Disable” / “Force stop
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times.

  1. Open “Settings” and go to “About phone
  2. Tap “System updates
  3. Check if new updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the prompts to download and install the update
