Enable Battery Optimization:
- Launch “Settings”
- Access “Battery”
- Tap “Battery optimization” and select an app to optimize
- Optionally, tap “Menu” and enable “Advanced optimization”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Display” for additional options
- Tap “Advanced” > “Sleep”
- Select a lower timeout value
Remove Third-Party Apps:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life. As such you can potentially improve battery life by removing unused third-party apps.
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Apps & Notifications”
- Switch to “See all apps” and select the desired app
- Tap “Uninstall”
- Tap “OK”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can potentially improve battery life by disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use and thus avoiding unnecessary network scans.
- Swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the “GPS (Location)” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Tap and hold the “Wi-Fi” toggle and disable the feature
- For more options, go to “Settings” > “Network & Internet” > “Hotspot & Tethering”
- Tap “Wi-Fi Hotspot”
- Disable the feature
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS updated. To check if new updates are available:
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to and access “System”
- Tap “System updates”
- Tap “Check for updates” and if applicable, follow the prompts to download and install available updates
