Enable Battery Optimization:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Access “Battery
  3. Tap “Battery optimization” and select an app to optimize
  4. Optionally, tap “Menu” and enable “Advanced optimization

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings
  4. Go to “Display” for additional options
  5. Tap “Advanced” > “Sleep
  6. Select a lower timeout value

Remove Third-Party Apps:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life. As such you can potentially improve battery life by removing unused third-party apps.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Apps & Notifications
  3. Switch to “See all apps” and select the desired app
  4. Tap “Uninstall
  5. Tap “OK

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can potentially improve battery life by disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use and thus avoiding unnecessary network scans.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “GPS (Location)” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features Off
  3. Tap and hold the “Wi-Fi” toggle and disable the feature
  4. For more options, go to “Settings” > “Network & Internet” > “Hotspot & Tethering
  5. Tap “Wi-Fi Hotspot
  6. Disable the feature

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS updated. To check if new updates are available:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to and access “System
  3. Tap “System updates
  4. Tap “Check for updates” and if applicable, follow the prompts to download and install available updates
