Clear App Data/Cache:
NOTE: If an app causes issues or takes up too much storage, you can try fixing it by clearing the app’s cache and/or data. WARNING! By clearing the app’s data, all of your personal data stored within the app will be deleted. To avoid this, clear ONLY the app cache.
- Open “Settings” and access “Apps & Notifications”
- Switch to “See all apps”
- Select the desired app and tap “Storage”
- Tap “Clear cache”
- If clearing the app cache didn’t fix the issues, tap “Clear data”
Reset Network and App Settings, Factory Reset the Device:
NOTE: To avoid losing personal data from the phone, ensure you’ve backed up all of your data before factory resetting it.
- Open “Settings” and go to “System”
- Tap “Reset options”
- To reset network settings, tap “Reset Wi-Fi Mobile & Bluetooth” then tap “Reset” two times
- To reset app settings, tap “Reset app preferences” > “Reset apps”
- To factory reset the device, tap “Erase all data (Factory Reset)” > “Reset phone” > “Erase Everything”
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove Apps:
NOTE: If a third-party app causes problems and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Press and hold “Power” while viewing the home screen
- From the power management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off” and accept to boot to Safe Mode
- After the phone finishes rebooting, you should see a “Safe Mode” watermark in the lower area of the home screen.
- Open “Settings” and go to “Apps & Notifications”
- Switch to “See all apps” and select the desired app
- Tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
- To exit Safe Mode, reboot your phone normally
