Clear App Data/Cache:

NOTE: if an app causes problems or takes up more storage than it should, you can try fixing it by clearing the app’s cache and/ or data. WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all of your personal data located within the app will be deleted. To avoid this, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Apps & Notifications
  3. Switch to “See all apps” and select the desired app
  4. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache
  5. If clearing the app cache didn’t fix the issues, tap “Clear data” (check the Warning above)

Reset Network and App Settings, Factory Reset:

NOTE: Make sure you’ve backed up all of your data before factory resetting the device or you will lose it.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “System” > “Reset options
  3. To reset network settings, tap “Reset Wi-Fi Mobile & Bluetooth” then tap “Reset” twice
  4. To reset app settings, tap “Reset app preferences” > “Reset apps
  5. To factory reset the device, tap “Erase all data (Factory Reset)” > “Reset phone” > “Erase everything

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall Apps:

NOTE: If a third-party app causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “Power” on the home screen
  2. From the power management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off” and confirm you want to reboot to Safe Mode
  3. Once the device reboots, you should see a “Safe Mode” watermark on the home screen
  4. Launch “Settings
  5. Go to “Apps & Notifications” and switch to “See all apps
  6. Select the desired app and tap “uninstall” > “OK
  7. To exit Safe Mode, reboot the device as you would do normally
