My parents recently switched their cell phone plan over to ConsumerCellular.com. they got a plan similar to what they used to have with Verizon but its about $10 cheaper.

I'd like to switch too. I have Verizon currently and pay $39.99 a month for it. with all the charges and taxes it comes out to about $54 and some odd cents.

the plan i want at consumer cellular is $30 for 450 minutes a month. weekends are nights are not free, so any calls i make come out of that 450 minutes a month. I only average about 100 minutes a month right now. sometimes its less, sometimes more. so using the minutes for weekends and stuff isn't a problem for me, i should have plenty.

they use cingular's towers and my parents get good reception here at my house. i get no reception with verizon, so it would be better to switch to cingular or a cingular reseller anyway.

the main problem i am having though is consumer cellular's phone selection. there are 5 phones:

    Sony Ericsson T290
    Motorola V173
    LG C200
    Motorola v551
    Motorola Razr V3

The phones are either crappy, don't have all the features i want, or are just too expensive for the amount of time i use the phone, or the worst part, has received bad reviews from users and websites.

also, does anyone know of any other cingular resellers in PA?
I tried searching for some but i don't know what to search for. I tried cellular resellers, cingular resellers, cellphone resellers and get nothing.

    pontifex,

If you use only 100 minutes per month, the cheapest way for you go is prepaid! This can save you lots of money and insure that you will never talk over your minutes. If phones selection is a problem, companies like Long Distance Post has a webstore full of phones at modest prices. If none of these phones match your needs then you can also take any old verizon, cingular, at&t or t-mobile phone and convert them to prepaid wireless. i would really recomend checking them out. Long Distance Post can also provide service on CDMA, TDMA or GSM netwroks so you can ensure the best service coverage in your area. Check them out at: http://www.LDPOST.com/Prepaid-Mobile...nes_LDPOST.htm

Hope this helps, let me know if you have anyother questions.

i have looked at those prepaid plans and i think they suck. you can end up paying more money with those than a regular plan!

like cingular (which is the company i want to go with) - it costs $1.00 a day if you use the phone plus $.10 a minute.
I usually use my phone once a day, so thats already $30-31 a month, then you have to add up the $.10 x 100 to that. so i'm already at $40 a month

the other plan doesn't have that $1 a day charge but its $.25 a minute! that would come to $25 a month IF i don't go over that.

Not sure if you checked out that site i posted, but minutes don't cost $.25. they start at 14-15 cents per minute. Look at the break down. On a GSM network you can pay $40 receive 285 minutes and assuming you are going continue to talk the same amount of minutes as you have been, you will be set for almost 2 months. Prepaid does not work for everyone, however it was designed with 4 major groups in mind (transients, people who rarely use their phones, people who don't like being forced into a contract and people with poor credit). You would fit into the description of someone who rarely uses their phone. This is an easy way for you to save a couple of bucks a month. Good luck with your decision! hope that helps!

Our plans are much cheaper and better then cingular. First of all we are a small company, so should any problems arise we have excellent customer service to accompany our great rates. Also we don't spend millions of dollars per year on high price brand recognition advertising and as a result we can offer identical products at a cheaper rate.
