After years w/ AT&T and going through a year of Cingular I wanted to change. I travel to Europe a few times a year so want to stick with GSM and what I seem to be finding is that Cingular and T-Mobile are the only GSM providers (Nextel is iDEN, Verizon/Sprint are CDMA/PCS). Is this accurate? Is it even a major issue (EG, can I get a Treo650 or HP Ipaq 6515 that will work on PCS & Euro GSM)? Salesbot @ Sprint reseller said that Europe is CDMA and US is going in that direction :-(.

    Thanks,

    avoid sprint

If i were you i would avoid using sprint services. while they may seem good, service coverage for their network is not so good. if you are looking for a phone that will work in both areas your best bet is a GSM phone. if you don't like the quality of GSM carriers in the US then i would recommend buying a Verizon phone and a cheap GSM phone that you would use only when traveling. good luck with your purchase and hope this helps.
