Hello All,
As posted in a forum before this, I am adding SMS messaging to my site. My hopes are to allow people to reply to the SMS so that they can reply to comments in real time that are sent to them.
As of right now I am going to send them from [email protected], but I would so much rather send them from an actually phone number. I know there are a lot of services out there that do SMS billing, which allow you to get say a "41231" number, but what I need is just a number that will redirect the message to my email. So if a txt is sent from the cell phone number 7162313212 to 541231, the provider just fwds the message sent to 541231 to my email.
Please note, I am *not* looking for a solution that charges per text, rather a monthly fee.
My solution to this will eventually be to just buy a dedicated PDA that is always plugged in and code up an application that sits on it and any time a text message comes in, it then fwds it off to my email account. This however is definitely a very ghetto work around which I'm sure you can tell is not going to be either fast nor 100% stable.
Please let me know any suggestions if you have any. Right now I am going to start by just using my email, but I do want to very soon add a simple number.
Thanks all in advance,
Anthony F Greco

Re: Cell Phone Number -> Email Redirect
I am really curious about this as well. I have seen software that you can buy and use the internet to do this, however it is quite expensive.

Re: Cell Phone Number -> Email Redirect
Well I would assume it has to be a service, not just software, since you need to get the phone number from a phone provider. I mean I know I CAN do it via my PDA and basically syncing the incoming txts with my mail server, but I would rather not take that route =/. Id rather have a "cell phone service" that delivers my txts to my email as apposed to my cell phone

WIRELESSFAN:
I am also a T-Mobile subscriber and have not yet been able to find a way to redirect text messages sent to my phone to an email address. I do know that T-Mobile allows you to establish a redirecting filter for any emails sent to your mobile address, but don't know how you are getting text messages to redirect.
Please explain.
