My service is through a local carrier...Cellular One. A while back I decided to get another phone. Since my local "store" did not have what I wanted, I went to ebay. The phone I had just before switching was a TDMA phone. In order to get a compatible phone I had to get an AT&T TDMA phone.
After finding a phone on ebay, I went to my provider and they put my number in the phone and activated it. The only thing is that it has always said AT&T on the display as opposed to Cellular One. It has worked perfect.
I am now considering upgrading to a GSM phone. Now the question. Does a new phone, (one from ebay), have to be a AT&T GSM phone or simply a GSM phone that is unlocked? Therefore I could just take out the sim card in my free phone from Cellular One and put it in the one from ebay.
Thanks.
