Hi,

My partner and I want to get a family plan because it is a much cheaper way, but he insists on making the payments and wants me to give up my carrier (a macho thing??) Anyway, the problem is that we're currently in opposite sides of the country. He's in North Carolina and I'm in Southern California.

Is there such a family plan that offers good reception as well as the ability to support distant area codes (619 and 919)? I've looked into Cingular/AT&T, but a lot of posts are quite dated and I'm hoping technology has advanced since then.

We prefer Cingular, Verizon, and maybe Sprint (if the reception is better than what the reputation seems to be).

Any advice and/or suggestions would be great.
