    Re: Pure Talk USA

Lostinplace, I am sorry that you were not pleased with your experience with Pure TalkUSA, but can assure you that we are a very real wireless company that strives to provide excellent value and service to our customers. Verizon phones are not compatible with the GSM network, so they cannot be used with our service. The only option for keeping your existing number is to port it to our service, at which point your Verizon service would no longer work. We offer a wide variety of handsets, from inexpensive, basic phones to feature-rich smartphones. In addition, we offer a SIM card option if you would like to use a GSM phone or if you would like to purchase a phone elsewhere. If, at any point, you need assistance with your account, you can contact our customer service line (which is usually very prompt, but was experiencing a wait time during the extreme snow we had in Atlanta) or can email us at [email protected].

203bravo, I believe that we did work your situation out to your satisfaction. However, please allow me to apologize again for the delayed response to your request. I am happy that you gave us a chance to make it up to you and have remained a customer!

If anyone has any questions or concerns regarding Pure TalkUSA or our services, please email [email protected]. Thank you!

Paid $10 for the sim card on 12/29/10. It's 1/31/11 today, and I still haven't received it yet. \
I think that is a good indication of what kind of service I can expect from this company. So, whether or not I eventually receive the sim card, no thank you, I am going for another company. I've considered my $10 lost already!

And to think i orignally planned of porting my old cel# to this company?!?!?! I wonder how much longer that would take!

    Re: Pure Talk USA

Just found this thread. Sounds like a very reasonable offer to me so I am now considering switching may be 3 lines over. However, reading about some of the delays in getting a working phone from PT, I am really concerned about the time it would take to switch over. I can't afford to have weeks of down time on the cell phone services. I don't need new phones as I have unlocked GSM phones already on AT&T network, but I do like to port the current phone numbers over.

What are your experiences on the delays in getting just the SIM cards and port the phone numbers over?

    Re: Pure Talk USA

I'm facing the exact same problem as Rosie.. I haven't heard from them (email or otherwise) since I placed my order for the sim card. After a week, decided to call them up and ask them if they have a tracking number, it took awhile and then gave it to me. I tracked it online, but it didn't show up.

The next day, I tried to track it again, and this time it says "electronic shipping info" received. Obviously, they just shipped it after I called in to check on my order!

I'll wait and see how it goes, but even though I'm a little ticked off since I've been checking my mail everyday, I'll give them a chance and post my review then. They should have just been upfront and honest about it, and apologize that they forgot to ship it or whatever.. that rep was tryin to be slick lol

I've been, 'PureTalk{PT}/Telrite Wireless' for the last three months now I think and have been very satisified till today 5-06-2011. I'll elaborate a little further on.

First a brief description of my situation:
I live in a rural in the foothills of the Central Calif area and my signal strength isn't always the greatest, generally 3 bars, but for the most part PT has allowed me to make montact even for East Coast Calls but there were dropped calls too even when calling only 31 miles away down to Fresno.

I startted with one of PT's Motorola Flip phones but soon changed to an LG Xexon GR500, a GSM phone that was At&t based also so all I had to do was switch the SIM card and let them know the make of the new phone and everything worked great till today? It's really very confusing!

I'm unsure just why I've been unable too complete or receive any calls as it seems to always say 'Service Unavilable' which seems very strange when compared to past days when this hardly ever happened and I'm making calls form my home as I have many times in the past. I also called PT's Customer Service who were very heldpful and contacted their tech support but to no avail.

What I find interesting is why the signal strength fades in and out when I'm stationary? But even a Tech friend who works at the local internet said his new Droid from Verison and the signal did the sme thing when he is at his work site.

So my frustration started today after the signal strength dropped too low to make or receive any calls and hasn't come up again. Well, I should clarify that on occasion when standing outside in the front yard I did get 5 bars once or twice only to have them fade away shortly! The drastic fluctuation is highly confusing to say the least.

Also I have a second LG Xenon GR500 and switched the SIM card and the same thing happened, and again I even tried my original Motorola and again the same thing happened. I wonder if it could be a bad SIM card?

So I'm wondering if anyone else has had an experienced something similiar with PT as it seems rather odd to me especially after enjoying over a month of effortless calling! Over all though they seem like a pretty good wireless service provider which was recommended to me by a buddy.[/Size="4"]

    Can't Get A Credit!!
I signed up for PureTalk USA service & phone on 5/31/11. Seven days later they dropped the price of the phone I purchased by $15.00 and offered a 35% discount for a Father's Day promotion. When I called to ask for a credit for the $23.73 total difference, I was told "NO", there was nothing they could do to credit me even though I had only missed the deal by 7 days. Next, I emailed their CSR dept. and asked for a supervisor to review my situation--was told no again. I would strongly recommend staying away from this provider--they just don't care about customer service--PERIOD!!

Stay away from PureTalk USA--They S-U-C-K bigtime!! Yes, their deal sounds good at first, but if you ever have any problems and try to get it resolved by their customer (LACK) of service dept., your nightmare will begin and never end. They don't care about what problem you are having, and if you ask for a credit to your credit card for a justifiable reason, they will flat-out tell you NO!! I know this because it happened to me. Their policies are opposite of what customer service should be, so don't expect any satisfaction for any problems you may encounter.

    Re: Pure Talk USA

i know this is old but i felt the need to respond.

i have had puretalk for about 2 years now, and i feel they are a very valuable cell phone company. they are cheap on price for the quality of service you get. as far as using verizon, i purchased a verizon (blackberry) phone off a lady off craigslist, I told her i would buy it from her if she made sure with her old company that it was an unlocked phone....she had to call verizon, there evidently was some small unpaid balance she took care of, they unlocked the phone on their (verizon) end. I took the sim card out of my wifes phone, stuck it in the newly unlocked blackberry and voila, worked like a charm first time......and ever since (she has had for about 6 months)

so lostinspace i think you probably didnt persue the problem deep enough with verizon, and probably partly some fault falls onto puretalk customer service for maybe not conveying the need to have everthing unlocked.

the first phone i purchased off them was refurb, in excellent new condition, then i switched to a blackberry about 1.5 years in.....

and puretalk recently took an upswing in the per minute prices....i buy $50 worth of minutes, used to get me $86 credit, now its like $ 94.......and they now do have the ability for data....although you need to have unlimited first....

and after a recent (exhaustive) number of hours of figuring if i was still on the cheapest (for what I use) cell phone plan....i mean i went down to the nickle.....puretalk still won out, even compared to everyone else / family plans / prepaid / whatever....i looked at em all folks.

the only place possibly cheaper would be that new republic wireless wifi phone for $ 19 unlimited a month.....sounds great...but good luck getting on the signup, plus u gotta buy expensive only their phone, and it sounds like after the year contract they maybe able to kick you out as you use more than they would like u too....

so by and far, puretalk still has the best to offer.

so to clairify, im just curious, do you go into bestbuy a week before a sale and ask for the sale price? do you go in 2 days before thanksgiving and ask for the black friday discount? are you seriously damming a company that wont give you a discount because your 7 days early on buying something? get real

    Re: Pure Talk USA

Verizon just raised their "administrative fee" on our 3 phones from $0.66 to $0.99 each. Hey, a buck is not too bad, right. Well, I have a contract with Verizon for 2 years which I have to honor. But it seems they don't have to honor the price since they can do a work-around and call a price increase something else. I talked to their customer service and at first, they said every carrier had this "government fee." I politely told her that the administrative fee was not a government fee, but a "profit center" for Verizon. She was dead quiet for a minute, then admitted I was right. Then the call was dropped. Hey, it's the network, right? I'm switching to someone who doesn't play games with "fees" and maybe Pure Talk USA will be the one? They say they don't have hidden fees. Is this right?

Agreed Specter. I also thought Willyd's complaint was ridiculous. He never once talked about the service. All he could do was complain about the $23 Puretalk refused to refund him because he purchased the phone before the sale. Amazing. I have been on the Puretalk unlimited plan for about a year and love it. $39.95 is $39.95 without the ridiculous additional miscellaneous "fees" the Big 4 cell phone companies charge. Great coverage. Best of all Puretalk just reduced the price of the unlimited plan from $39.95 to $37.95. Awesome company.

I switched from ATT two years ago and haven't looked back. Service is exactly the same as AT&T! We have traveled from Vermont to Georgia and never lost service. We do not use the cell much so the FLEX Plan is perfect!

    Re: Pure Talk USA

    Hello,
I have Verizon and it will expire in Sept. Thinking about buying an unlocked iPhone and getting Pure Talk.

Does anyone know how the service in Maine is. I live near the boondocks in southern Maine.

Also, if I opt for the $30 flex plan and use only 100 minutes, do they charge $30 or do they charge $10?

Someone said when porting your old number, make sure you have them port your voice and text too?

My spouse has a Tracfone. Would they be able to port that number too?

    What towers do they use?
    Thanks!
