I'm going to be getting a phone soon, but I have some pretty narrow and specific things I really want out of it that I'm not sure which carrier would be best suited for. I was wondering if anyone here would like to share some suggestions based on these criteria...
- Unlimited text
I don't like to actually "talk" on the cell phone much. I am more of a text message and "mess around on Facebook over the cell phone" kind of person. I almost always had loads of minutes left over back when I used a "pay as you go" cell phone years ago.
- Web Browsing or Facebook/Twitter access
My biggest attraction to a phone is whether you get web browsing. Particularly Facebook and Twitter. I'm alright with limited web access, since FB/Twitter are what I would be using the internet for anyway.
I'm on a family plan with some family using Metro PCS; about 97$ a month, Unlimited Calls/Text/Internet. It's convenient, but I'm looking for something cheaper, with the highlights being Unlimited Text/Internet.
Any suggestions for a carrier and maybe even suggestions for what kind of phone I might want to pick up would be lovely.

You could do Verizon. They have data/text only plans if you wanted that (34.99/month for regular cell phones) or they also have unlimited data plans and unlimited texting plans which prices range from $45 to $90 including minutes. I think a smartphone, blackberry, or touch screen type of phone would be good.

You could get a phone, like the Motorola DROID (known for its amazing data/texting abilities plus all the apps, including many for facebook/twitter). Then get the unlimited text/internet for smartphone without any voice minutes for $54.99 and then just pay the $0.45 per minute for voice.

A friend of mine has the Droid and says the keyboard isn't the best for texting. However, the touch screen on it is pretty cool. I have the LG enV3 touch screen has a pretty good touch screen for internet use and I prefer that keybpad to the Droids keypad
