With the hope of obtaining better coverage and lower price, I switched from my AT&T GoPhone (prepaid) to TracFone. I decided on an LG600G, I soon realized that even though this phone was listed as having the features I was looking for, namely dowloadable ringtones & bluetooth, I started having difficulties immediately after activating the phone. When I first tried to place a call, it displayed "Emergency calls only". Customer service was able to fix this from their end, but it soon happened again, and it was fixed again. Now, the phone is not usable in the area around where I live in W.V. Customer service tells me that even though I have good signal strength, this particular LG model (has a SIM card) makes this phone unusable in my area, and it was suggested that I buy model LG290c instead, (no SIM card according to TracFone). I also bought a USB adapter for the LG600G so I could load ringtones to it from my computer. The computer will not acknowledge the phone, and I discovered that this capability is disabled for this TracFone branded model. So, I thought I's try using one of the free "make your own ringtone" utilities and send it to my LG, but it did not work either, giving me the error "unsupported file type" The file was MP3, and supposedly is supported on this phone. I am thoroughly frustrated with my TracFone experience thus far, and I hesitate to try the LG290c without some solid knowledge that I will have service everywhere I can get a signal, and that I'll be able to send the phone my own ringtones. I'd appreciate it if anyone could help by giving me some answers.
