Hi I am an italian student and since two months I live in New York City.
I have a nokia 5800 and I would like to use its web functions. In particular I need to use some applications like skype and fring in order to make calls to my friends and to my family through mobile internet.
I was looking for a mobile provider which offers a cheap way to use internet with the mobile.
Since I wanna use my smartphone I need a company which sells sim cards.
Data plan are good, but I am looking for a prepaid plan as well.

In particular I saw a prepaid plan of boostmobile: Pay As You Go Phone Plan | Boost Mobile

I have just seen that with only 35c at day I could use internet without any limitations. Is it right? o are there other fees or limitations? is this internet good to use skype from my mobile? does boost mobile support sim cards? or are there cheper plans?

Sorry for my questions, but here the rules for mobiles are completely different than italian ones.

Well its a complicated question over here. You're better off purchasing a phone over hear than trying to get your device to work on our networks.

Half of Boost uses SIM cards, but its on the IDEN network which is equivalent to 2G data speeds, so no, it would not support the functions you are looking for.

The other half of Boost, and Virgin mobile and Sprint are all on the CDMA network. No SIM cards there.

Your best bet is to go to virginmobileusa.com and get a phone there that will work with what you are looking at. They have a $25 plan that includes unlimited texting and data as well as a certain # of minutes here in the US.

I believe this is your best option.

Simple Mobile is a prepaid GSN service that will work on any fully unlocked gsn phone the only problem is things like skype and fringe might not work on simple mobiles network you also have to find someone you trust to unlock the phone.
