Could you please help me make an informed decision about a carrier (first time in U.S.).

I am interested in about a 100-200 minute plan, and at least 500MB-1GB plan per month with no VoIP throttling (for example skype). Moreover I already have a smartphone and I don't need a device.

I contacted sprint and they told me I cannot use my device on their network if it is not a sprint device so they told me to look for prepaid services like boost mobile (does this rule apply to all US carriers?).

Can you recommend something else?
